Sleepy Hollow Middle and High School student-athletes received important information about their athletic futures on May 2, meeting with a Major League Baseball agent from Perfect Placement.
Mark Leinweaver educated parents, students, and coaches about the best approach to choosing a college and the recruitment process. Leinweaver explained the families need a simple, realistic and logical plan.
"The college bound process is a unique opportunity for student athletes and families to choose the best placement academically while identifying a level of athletics where they can be competitive,” said Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, Denise Kiernan. “Student-athletes, parents and coaches are all important components in this process. It is critical for athletes to advocate for themselves.”
They should also consider the size of a prospective college, how far they want to travel from home, college majors and career paths as well as determining the best athletic competition division.
Families learned that participating at the college level as a student-athlete is possible for all athletes. Finding the right fit is very important.
