First-graders in Leslie Meehan’s class love to curl up with a book and now the students at W.L. Morse and all our elementary schools have additional books to read as a result of the Tarrytown Rotary Club.
The Rotary sponsored a book drive and raised approximately $1,500 to purchase new books for the classrooms. The Rotary Club worked with teachers from the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns and compiled a list of authors and books to purchase. Penguin Random House and The Village Book Store of Pleasantville generously offered discounts to the District.
School Superintendent Christopher Borsari expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club on June 12,as he visited Morse with School Board President Mimi Godwin and Rotary members.
The Rotary hopes to launch another book drive in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown to benefit even more children.
