  • #Socktober Was a Huge Success at Washington Irving

    Students at WI took part in the #Sockotber campaign which collects socks to be given out to the homeless. The students donated 1,882 pairs of socks this #socktober for homeless New Yorkers. They are being distributed directly to the homeless via The Midnight run, and through Project S.H.A.R.E.

  • Who is William the Hippo?

    "William" is a bright blue hippopotamus just under 8 inches high located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is made of faience, a ceramic material that is fired at a high temperature, and is decorated with lotus blossoms, which represent the hippo's creative forces in nature.

  • Student Government Gets Creative With Anti-Bullying Campaign

    In the month of October, Student Government held their first meeting with all members. In support of our school’s theme of “Anti-Bullying and Bravery” this month, students made anti-bullying posters and created “Bravery Badges”. By the end of the month one student in each clas​s will​​ be awarded the “Bravery Badge” for demonstrating the action of courage in or out of their classroom.
